Behind Team85

Verein Team85

Since 18 September 2026 our friendship has a legal form. Little else has changed.

Why an association?

Team85 has been a circle of friends since 2015: two Allgäu-Orient rallies, school desks for a primary school in Albania, dry stone walls in Parc Ela, a converted alpine hut. For ten years that worked without any paperwork.

With the Baltic Sea Circle 2027 it is getting bigger. An association gives us a bank account in our own name, the ability to sign sponsoring contracts, liability that stops at the association's assets rather than at individual people — and continuity beyond any single project. We have no intention of adding more bureaucracy than that.

Purpose

Article 2 of the statutes, first paragraph:

The association pursues exclusively charitable purposes and is not profit-oriented. It combines adventure, craftsmanship and friendship with charitable impact — where friendship creates impact.

Deliberately left open: the committee decides case by case which project comes next and who the proceeds go to. For the Baltic Sea Circle 2027 that is the Sternschnuppe children's charity.

Become a member

Anyone who feels like joining in is welcome — with a spanner, with ideas, or simply as a supporter. The founding assembly set the annual fees as follows:

  • Active member — CHF 50 per year, voting rights, active involvement
  • Passive member / supporter — CHF 50 per year, no voting rights
  • Legal entity / company — CHF 250 per year

Fill in the membership form and send it to hallo@team85.ch, or by post to the association address. The committee decides on admission.

The association's bank account is being opened right now — we will issue the first fee invoice once it is in place. So feel free to sign up already; there is no rush.

Donations and taxes

Membership fees cover the running of the association, not the rally: those taking part cover their own costs through a separate project contribution, which is reported separately per project in the accounts. That keeps donations and rally costs strictly apart.

Donations made through this website go directly to the Sternschnuppe children's charity — not through our account. The foundation issues donation receipts for tax purposes; to get one, choose the "with donation receipt" option on the donations section.

The association itself is not yet exempt from taxation on grounds of charitable status — the application to the cantonal tax office of Aargau is pending. Direct contributions to Team85 are therefore not tax-deductible at present. We will update this page as soon as the decision is in.

Documents

We do not publish the minutes of the founding assembly or the register of members — they contain the addresses of every member. Members can request them from us.
